When the pandemic put a halt to live theatre, the team at Capital Theatres wanted to come up with a way to provide access to the arts remotely to people with dementia, and so When the Sun Meets the Sky was born. A mystery story shaped by anecdotes from people living with dementia in Edinburgh and the Lothians, the play was specially adapted to be accessible to those at different stages of their diagnosis.

Loop hears from producer Dawn Irvine and Willy Gilder, a 68-year-old living in South Queensferry who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2021, both of whom strongly believe that taking part in arts and culture is important to the growing community of those living with dementia.
