Breakup: Episode Two: Secrecy's Veil
Ophelia Byrne finds out what happened when the border in Ireland was finalised in 1925
Across three episodes, Ophelia Byrne follows a line on a map into the world of the Irish Boundary Commission – set up nearly a century ago to finalise the shape of the border in Ireland. The stakes are high - but with secrecy, high statecraft, split communities and thousands of lives changed forever - a chance discovery in the archives makes Ophelia question the whole Boundary Commission process
Episode Two: Secrecy's Veil
Ophelia finds out what happened to some of the border communities which testified to the Irish Boundary Commission. As she hears stories of blocked roads, deserted houses and political tensions, Ophelia comes across police reports in the archives which show the Northern Irish government is keeping a very close eye on the Boundary Commission hearings
