Germany Covid: Record rise of cases 'very concerning'
In recent days Germany has recorded its highest rates of infection since the pandemic began and some have warned that a further 100,000 people could die from Covid in future months. Case numbers have soared and on Wednesay Germany registered its highest rate of infection since the pandemic began, with almost 40,000 cases in a day.
Dr Maria Sundaram, an infectious disease epidemiologist at Marshfield Clinic Research Institute in Wisconsin, compares the numbers to those recorded in the US and Canada, and explains possible reasons for the steep rises.
