Are Chinese loans still a good deal for Africa?
Investment from China has helped to build railways, airports and roads across Africa. Will it still seem like a good deal when it’s time to pay it back?
Most countries around the world are in some kind of debt. Money is borrowed to invest in a prosperous future, where paying it back won’t be a problem.
In Africa, more and more of that investment is coming from China. It’s helped to build railways, airports and roads.
But some of these loans have come at a high cost and repayments are expensive.
So, is it still worth it? Is investment from China still a good deal for Africa?
