Is ‘levelling up’ more than a slogan?
Boris Johnson's flagship policy during the 2019 general election was to level up the country.
But two years into his premiership some of his own MPs are questioning the delivery of this key government strategy.
Jake Berry, chairman of the Northern Research Group of MPs, said today "there is still no clarity about what levelling up actually means" and "like all successful election slogans levelling up means all things to all people".
New Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Michael Gove, has been brought in to provide new vision and purpose to the agenda.
Policy Editor, Lewis Goodall, reports.
To find out what ‘levelling up’ looks like in practice, Emily Maitlis is joined by Levelling Up Minister, Neil O’Brien.
