Pregnant and in prison: ‘It’s not safe for women’
In 2019, an 18 year-old inmate at Europe's largest women's prison lost her baby after giving birth alone.
A new report details serious failings in the teenager's treatment. Newsnight speaks to the report’s author, Prisons and Probation Ombudsman Sue McAllister.
Newsnight also hears from other women who were expecting babies in custody about the concerns they had about not receiving the same care they would have done in the community.
