Shamima Begum, one of three London schoolgirls who left the UK for Syria to join the Islamic State group,聽has spoken about her 鈥榬egret鈥� over her actions.

Now 22, Ms Begum lived under IS rule for more than three years. She was found, nine months pregnant, in a Syrian refugee camp in February 2019.

The baby later died of pneumonia and Ms Begum said she had previously lost two other children.

After she was found, the then home secretary, Sajid Javid, cancelled her British citizenship on security grounds.

Asked how she felt knowing she had joined a group which committed genocide, Ms Begum said she felt 鈥渟ick to [her] stomach]鈥�.

鈥淚 will regret it for the rest of my life. Whether you can see it on my face or not it, it kills me inside, I lose sleep over it鈥� it makes me hate myself.鈥�
