Professor Richard English on the background to this QUB Talks series (Subtitled)
The Partition of Ireland: Causes and Consequences.
Professor Richard English from Queen’s University Belfast explains the background to this extended series of talks which has been developed with broadcast support from the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ.
Each talk lasts approximately 20mins and provides specialist insight from a leading academic on specific aspects of Partition, its causes and effects.
Those taking part are drawn from different academic backgrounds and their talks are intended to facilitate understanding of, and debate about, this important subject – in all of its complexity.
New Talks are published on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s website at 12.00 midday each Monday (from 26 April) and are also available as a podcast on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sounds.
We know that there’s a limit to how much information can be included in a 20mins presentation and have asked our contributors to recommend a short selection of books and articles that relate to their Talk topic. All of these details are available alongside their video. And you can find out more about Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ programming in this area (across radio, television and online) by following the links on the main Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ webpage for QUB Talks 100.
This series was recorded at different locations in accordance with Covid-19 regulations.
The Partition of Ireland: Causes and Consequences has been supported by the UK and Irish governments, and by the Royal Irish Academy and British Academy.
