There is now a scramble to leave the country with chaos at the airport and reports at least two people have died in the crush.
Members of the Taliban have told the Â鶹ԼÅÄ that they will allow women and girls to go to school – but their track record suggests otherwise.
We spoke to Homira Rezai, who lived in Afghanistan until age 13.
