Wildfires and record temperatures threaten Greece's economy

Wildfires, record high temperatures and strong winds are sweeping parts of Greece, forcing the evacuation of thousands of people.

The authorities are warning people to stay indoors this week to avoid dangerously hot weather, which is being blamed on climate change.

Eleni Myrivili, a former deputy mayor of Athens, has just been appointed as the City's Chief Heat Officer, tasked with finding ways to adapt to heatwaves. She tells the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Russell Padmore how the extreme weather is affecting the Greek economy.
