What happens to Afghanistan once Nato withdraws?
The US military left Bagram Airfield - its key base in Afghanistan - in the dead of night without notifying the Afghans, the base's new commander said.
Under a deal with the Taliban, the US and its Nato allies agreed to withdraw all troops in return for a commitment by the militant group not to allow al-Qaeda or any other extremist organisation to operate in the areas they control.
After nearly twenty years in the region, what does this tell us about the place they have left and the state of things to come?
