A mother from Derby has told Ian Skye how she feels like a bank robber on the run, after walking out of Covid quarantine for her son's funeral. Carol Smith had been in Dubai when her son Stacey died. She and her husband should have quarantined for ten days as the United Arab Emirates is a red-list country. But instead, they left after four days and now face a 拢20,000 fine.

Derbyshire Police said in a statement:

"The force has been working with the Managed Quarantine Service following a report that two passengers believed to be from the Derbyshire area had allegedly not fully complied with quarantine requirements after arriving from a red list country. The force works with the MQS, as all police forces do across the country, to manage those people who are believed to have not followed the current legislation around quarantining. Officers will routinely attend addresses when it most likely that people will be at home. Officers attended on a number of occasions, however, after it was discussed with the family no further late-night calls were made to the address."

We've also approached the Department of Health and Social Care for comment, but have yet to receive a reply.
