Investigation: Nearly 1,500 allegations of sexual misconduct by police officers
A joint investigation by Newsnight and Womanβs Hour into sexual misconduct by police officers has found that there have been almost 1,500 allegations of wrongdoing across England, Scotland and Wales over the last five years.
The force in Northern Ireland didnβt respond to our freedom of information request.
The issue leapt up the agenda in March when 33-year-old Sarah Everard vanished as she walked home in Clapham, south London. Wayne Couzens, a serving police officer, pleaded guilty last week to her rape and kidnap.
After her disappearance the home secretary commissioned a wide-ranging inspection into how the police engage with women and girls βto assess what more can be doneβ.
