Batley and Spen by-election: Is Labour set to lose more ground?
On 1 July, the voters of Batley and Spen will find themselves thrust into the national spotlight as they head to the polls in a by-election.
This isn't technically, part of Labour's old βred wallβ, but spiritually it will be seen as such. And Keir Starmer - with the help of Kim Leadbeater - the younger sister of Jo Cox, murdered in that same constituency five years ago - will be hoping to prove they still dominate.
The Tories will be hoping they can win, as they did earlier in the year in Hartlepool. And whilst its seen as a two horse tory labour race - there is another horse - arguably able to make life quite difficult for the left.
Lewis Goodall reports.
