World’s largest vaccine producer in India will not resume export of jabs
The world’s largest vaccine manufacturer in India – the Serum Institute – has said it won’t start sending jabs abroad again until at least the end of this year.
Despite exporting vaccines to more than 50 countries, India is in the middle of its own medical emergency.
While the country deals with its Covid crisis, they’ve decided to halt vaccine exports, until at least the end of this year, to focus on their domestic plight.
This comes as a blow to COVAX, the global body which aims to deliver vaccines to poorer countries, and there are concerns over how many lives this lack of distribution could cost.
