Featured Artist: Sam Dotia

Get to know Southeast London singer-songwriter Sam Dotia.

Zambian born, Charlton-based singer-songwriter Sam Dotia has consistently hit us in the feels with his haunting vocals and atmospheric guitar. With roots in folk, indie and R&B, Sam cites Jeff Buckley, Moses Sumney and Bon Iver as influences, his affecting sound exploring everything from religion to metaphysics.

Whilst he had always used poetry and songwriting as an outlet, it wasn’t until Sam reached university that he began to share his music and play live. It was at this point that he began to take it more seriously and has gone on to collaborate with artists including Matt Maltese and Rachel Chinouriri. He has also appeared in music videos by Tirzah and Ruby D.

In 2019, he uploaded his debut single β€˜Uriah’s Cry’ to ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Music Introducing and has continued to impress with follow ups β€˜Repeat’ and β€˜Daylight’. With such raw vocals and evocative instrumentation, less really is more when it comes to his tracks and we’re excited to see where it takes him next.
