'Life-changing' smartphone gift transforms lockdown for deaf Bridport resident

A Bridport man who's deaf has been telling us how being gifted a smartphone rescued him from a lonely lockdown.

John Phillips, who's 76, communicates only through sign language.

He'd spent nine months of lockdown in isolation with very little contact with other people and says he was feeling very low.

But a project to help digitally connect people in need during lockdown landed John with a smartphone which he says changed his life.

John's been speaking to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Solent's Dorset breakfast show presenter Steve Harris, with the help of Sign Language Interpreter Caryn from Millbrook Healthcare.
