In the new podcast, Brixton: Flames on the Frontline, Farrukh Dhondy (voiced by an actor) shares his story of his home being firebombed by racists while he was asleep.

He said: 鈥淓verything was burning, I sat there feeling nothing. The fire chief said: 鈥楾his is no accident you were targeted; it was a firebomb. My home was burned down, someone had tried to kill me.鈥�

Farrukh鈥檚 flat was one of five Asian owned properties firebombed across South London that night. The media reported that the bombings were carried out by far-right extremists.

No one has ever been caught for the attack.

The Metropolitan Police said: "This is not the same Met as it was 40 years ago. We have improved how we investigate and respond to crimes.鈥�

鈥淭he response to racist crime has been vastly improved and the current Commissioner has been instrumental in enhancing the service we give to London鈥檚 black community.鈥�
