My film: Why don't more black people swim?

Statistics released by Swim England show that 80% of black children and 95% of black adults in the UK do not swim. The stereotypes and pressures that leads to this are explored in a new film due to be released next month called β€œBlacks Can’t Swim – the sequel”. It follows filmmaker Ed Accura's experience mentoring two teenagers who don't want to get in the water.

Ed has already made a film about his own struggles with swimming – he learned because he was worried about protecting his daughter - and now he’s made this sequel.

He feels passionately that his community needs more help and advice when it comes to water safety.

"I said to myself if my daughter ever fell into difficulty in water and I couldn't help out, I'd never forgive myself."
