All attempts to move the mega-ship have failed so far and there is no clear indication of when the canal can be unblocked. Guy Platten, secretary general of the International Chamber of Shipping, explains the complex logistics involved, and how it may result in the weight of the ship being reduced by the removal of containers, and even the fuel.
