Classics with NOW: Bridge, 'Enter Spring'
Frank Bridge's Enter Spring was the composerβs only commission, written for the 1927 Norwich Triennial Festival. The work is considered one of the stand-out works of a genre in British music, βpastoral impressionβ, evoking natureβs force and the changing seasons.
Inspired by walks on the Sussex Downs, the piece is energetic, colourful and turbulent, beginning with glimmers of winter and then unfolding into the sounds of spring.
This performance by ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ NOW took place in Waterfront Hall, Belfast in 2001, with much-loved conductor Richard Hickox.
