Covid: What do scientists know about Brazil’s P1 variant?
The Brazilian Covid variant, or P1, has been found in several countries around the world. Scientists have been analysing data from the city of Manaus to find out if the mutation has enabled the virus to spread more easily.
Dr Emma Hodcroft, a geneticist at the University of Bern, discusses the latest findings - as well as anecdotal evidence that P1 has been re-infecting people who had already been infected by an older variant.
