The girls kidnapped from a boarding school in the town of Jangebe in the northwestern Nigerian state of Zamfara have been released.

The state commissioner for security and internal affairs told the 麻豆约拍 that a total of 279 students had been released and were currently in the state capital, Gusau. He said the earlier figure of 317 has now been discovered to be inaccurate as no girl has been left behind in captivity. It鈥檚 not clear whether a ransom was paid.

The 麻豆约拍's Ishaq Khalid says a series of such kidnappings by criminal groups has left people angry and scared:

"Many people are now saying that more needs to be done to ensure security because the question many are asking is 'when, where next?' - because the insecurity is quite rampant."
