Captive Performance

True crime parody. Georgina is on the hunt for a delusional playwright who kidnaps actors, locks them in her basement and forces them to perform her pretentious new play.

True crime parody. Comedian Diona Doherty plays an ambitious young reporter trying to jump on the True Crime bandwagon with a hit podcast.

When amateur actress Kelly Keogh stepped off-stage during a shoddy production of Grease, she had no idea that she’d be abducted and locked in a basement somewhere in Belfast. The delusional kidnapper was actually a playwright who wanted an actress to star in her new play. After Kelly is released due to a lack of talent, Georgina discovers that there are other victims out there who might be able to help Georgina track down the kidnapper.

What Happens In Ulster is a mockumentary series inspired by wave of popular true crime podcasts and radio documentaries. Our ambitious young reporter believes that the fastest way to the top of the news business, is with a cracking true crime documentary. All she needs is an unsolved crime, some victims and a suspect. And lots of crying would be great. If this documentary is a success, she could go on to present Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Newsline or a Panorama. After that, who knows…Dancing On Ice? But first, she needs some drama, even if she has to create some herself.

This episode stars Diona Doherty, Caroline Curran, Lucy McConnell, Brendan Quinn and Aaron Butler. It was written and produced by Marc McElroy.
