How a melting permafrost is affecting life in the Arctic

Arctic warming is talking its toll on the communities and animals that live on the Siberian tundra, from infrastructure damage to loss of life, eroding land and endangering thousand-year-old cultures and traditional knowledge.

Dr Zoia Vylka Ravna, Nenets-born anthropologist and educator, has lived on the tundra. She describes the challenges posed by an increasingly unpredictable climate and how dangerous infections, released by a melting permafrost, are threatening life there.
