Biden signs order rejoining Paris climate agreement

Just hours after being sworn in, President Joe Biden had signed 17 executive orders - more than any other president in modern times. His team says he is acting fast to undo damage done by Donald Trump in his four years in office.

One of the orders committed the US to rejoining the Paris Climate agreement - aimed at limiting emissions and so global warming. Another revoked a key permit for the Keystone Pipeline being built to transport oil between Canada and the US. `

Daniel Zarrilli, New York City’s Chief Climate Policy Advisor, calls it 'a remarkable new day'.

"Every second counts with what needs to be done on climate change...there's a real need to end the age of fossil fuels and that means we need to stop building new fossil fuel infrastructure."
