Naomi Campbell on supporting African designers
The supermodel Naomi Campbell has thrown her support behind a campaign to promote African fashion designers and win them international recognition.
She collaborated with the Arise Fashion Show - which was recorded outside and shared remotely because of Covid-19 - to give a platform to the best "30 under 30". The main prize was won by Kenneth Ize, but all thirty participants were given cash awards, acknowledging how difficult it is during the pandemic for young designers.
"They've been excluded for so long... They need this support for their brands, for their businesses. You know it's a struggle for them."
