Erick Morillo's death shook the dance world. He was an undeniably huge name in the scene - having become one of the biggest DJs in the world in the 90s with hits like I Like To Move It. But in September 2020 he was found dead at his home with cocktail of ketamine, MDMA and cocaineΒ in his system. It was less than a month after his arrest for sexually assaulting a female DJ. He was due to appear in court just days after his death - and as the news spread, his music took a back seat. Headlines emerged of several women’s experiences of alleged sexual abuse by Erick Morillo and many in the dance community started asking if it had somehow let inappropriate behaviour become the norm.
