Covid-19: Should Joe Biden sign up to Covax?
Against concerns that rich countries could hoard doses of Covid vaccines and people living in lower-income countries could miss out, a global collaboration, Covax, has been set up to ensure equitable access. Many rich nations have signed up to this but not the US, and Donald Trump has made no secret of his desire to put Americans first in the queue to get hold of a vaccine.
There are now calls for President-elect Joe Biden to sign up to Covax. Loyce Pace, executive director and president of the Global Health Council, and Dr Eric Goosby, an infectious disease expert and professor of medicine at the University of California, both of whom are members of Joe Biden's coronavirus taskforce, explain why.
