While studying at art school, one of David J Mitchell鈥檚 lecturers told the class: 鈥淎nything can be a sculpture. Even a smell can be a sculpture鈥�. To David, this modern assessment doesn鈥檛 ring true - he鈥檚 one of only a handful of young sculptors in the country choosing a traditional sculpting practice.
Having just completed a restoration of the five massive figures that reside in Glasgow鈥檚 Citizen鈥檚 Theatre, including Robert Burns and William Shakespeare, David shares his lengthy artistic process, from wire armature to casting and moulding, that eventually leads to a figure being immortalised in sculpture.
