Scientists have a new projection for the glaciers of Europe鈥檚 highest mountain range, concluding all but a third of the Alpine glaciers will disappear by the end of this century - even under the most optimistic climate change scenarios. And if emissions really do pursue a business-as-usual trajectory, there will be virtually no glacier ice on the mountains come 2100. The finding come from an EU-funded research project led by Aberystwyth University in Wales. The project鈥檚 coordinator, Professor Neil Glasser, explained how they worked out these projections of glacier retreat.
