Pet Shop owner wins Weymouth Football Club shirt sponsorship raffle
"I couldn't believe it, absolutely gob-smacked, still am to be honest!".
The owner of a pet shop in Chickerell has told Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Solent he was 'absolutely gob-smacked' to win a raffle to sponsor the shirts of Weymouth Football Club.

In previous years, director Cormac Linehan has advertised his company on a pitch side hoarding at the Bob Lucas Stadium to help with support for the club and the local community.
However, with continued Covid-19 restrictions meaning fans are still unable to attend games, businesses were not asked to renew their boards this year. Instead, Weymouth Football Club ran a raffle with one lucky winner becoming the club's main shirt sponsor for a year. The package is estimated to be worth tens of thousands of pounds for an outlay of Β£250 on a raffle ticket, that included all entrants receiving a signed club shirt.

The small pet shop that launched 13 years ago will now get nationwide exposure when matches are streamed live by the club, and be seen by an audience of thousands during BT Sport coverage for selected games.
In August 2020, Weymouth FC were promoted to the National League which is the top tier of non-league football for the first time in eleven years
