Coronavirus: Could the UK adopt a German-style jobs scheme?
Chancellor Rishi Sunak is set to make an announcement about what happens after the furlough scheme expires at the end of October.
The move comes after mounting pressure on the government.
ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ political editor Laura Kuenssberg says Mr Sunak has been considering different forms of wage subsidy and will announce more financial help.
He is understood to be looking at options including a salary top-up scheme, similar to those already operating in France and Germany.
The Treasury has also announced there would be no Budget this autumn.
