We have heard a lot in the past six months about the direct impact of coronavirus in terms of the number of deaths, and the huge damage to the economy.

But other details are only just beginning to emerge, including the effect on domestic violence. The charity Women's Aid has published a report revealing the devastating impact of Covid-19 on vulnerable families.

The report says refuges lack sufficient space and children in abusive households were not treated as vulnerable for 16 weeks. It also notes that the criminal justice system now has a huge backlog of cases, meaning increased waiting times before domestic abuse complaints are heard in court.

The Nine's Emma Clifford Bell spoke to two survivors of domestic abuse to find out how they have coped with the coronavirus lockdown.
