Care homes in lockdown: 'A shameful and uncaring situation'

A woman whose husband has dementia has told 5 Live that not allowing people to visit care homes is 'inhumane'.

Lynn lives in Trafford, which was subject to extra lockdown measures for Greater Manchester in July. This week those restrictions lifted, only to be reimposed on the same day.

She told 5 Live presenter Nicky Campbell that she hasn't seen her husband Trevor for five weeks - in the first lockdown she didn't see him for four months.

Dementia charity John's Campaign is seeking a judicial review of the government guidance on care home visits.

A Department of Health spokesman said: "We know limiting visits in care homes has been difficult for many families."
