Peter Biar Ajak accuses South Sudan of targeting him with a hit squad in Kenya
The prominent South Sudanese activist Peter Biar Ajak has made explosive allegation against the South Sudanese government. He says Juba sent a hit squad to Kenya, where he was living, to abduct or kill him.
Peter Biar Ajak was recently released from jail in South Sudan, having been convicted in a case that was widely condemned around the world.
The US took his new concerns sufficiently seriously to give him and his family a humanitarian visa. Peter Biar Ajak spoke to Newsday's James Copnall shortly after he arrived in the United States. A spokeman for the South Sudanese President had denied the allegations.
