The dangerous debt you need to dodge
Unemployment, an end to furlough and mounting arrears could spell debt disaster for thousands and debt charities are concerned that this will lead to an increase in mis-sold insolvency products like Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs). Currently IVA providers can pay companies for peopleβs details often generated using misleading online adverts. These adverts sometimes impersonate advice charities and can deceive people seeking help. Debt charities are calling for the rules around these βlead generatorβ adverts to be tightened up to protect people. Neil spoke to Money Boxβs Paul Lewis about an experience his mother had as she dealt with her husbandβs business affairs after he became ill.
