Update: India bans TikTok
India has banned 59, mostly Chinese, mobile apps. It follows an incident on the Chinese Indian border in the Ladakh region in June, that left at least 20 Indian troops dead.
India's technology ministry said the apps are "prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order". The statement did not mention the border clashes between India and China but described the apps as "stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users' data in an unauthorised manner".
