Coronavirus: Half of patients ‘too scared’ to attend hospital despite cases dropping

The coronavirus will impact on the NHS for months - perhaps years to come. So how can the NHS, and the treatment if offers, get back on track after fighting a global pandemic?

Take this one example, without an instant test, every emergency hospital admission will have to be treated as Covid positive - with the attendant logistic issues, everything from PPE, to navigating through corridors, sometimes in old hospitals,  and cleaning and cleaning again, all of it taking more time.

And for planned procedures and surgery? It's estimated waiting lists in England alone could double in six months.

Throughout the pandemic, Newsnight has made regular visits to Salisbury District Hospital.
