Coronavirus: The hospital at the heart of Italy’s pandemic

On 20 February a doctor at a hospital in northern Italy attended to a patient with severe respiratory failure. It turned out to be the first recorded case of Covid-19 in Europe.

The doctors and nurses at Lodi Hospital were the first outside of Asia to face the pandemic.

This is the story of how they were thrown into crisis. And how they emerged on the other side.

International Editor Gabriel Gatehouse reports.
