Boris Johnson launches test & trace as Dominic Cummings row rumbles on
England’s test and trace system is set to launch, but some fear the Dominic Cummings controversy could impact the public’s will to cooperate.
As the government prepares to launch its test and trace system, the announcement continues to be shrouded by criticism of Boris Johnson’s senior adviser, Dominic Cummings.
The prime minister described the test and trace system as a very important tool in the fight against coronavirus – though said it won't be fully operational for some time.
In England, anyone who tests positive will be asked to share the details of their close contacts, who will then be tested if they too have symptoms, or be expected to isolate for 14 days if they don't. But, it won't be compulsory.
So, will the ongoing controversy over Dominic Cummings’ behaviour impact the public’s cooperation?
James Clayton reports.
