Coronavirus deaths: Holding an Ethiopian funeral vigil via Zoom
Demeketch Aliyu, a well known singer at Ethiopia's National Theatre during the 1940s, passed away recently. But like everyone living with coronavirus restrictions, her family couldn't hold a traditional Ethiopian funeral. Of her 12 children, only two were able to attend the ceremony. Demeketch's fourth-born son, Abiy Mekonen, is a semi-retired pilot who now lives in Dallas, Texas.
