β€˜An hour after I gave birth, I decided to leave'

Author Deborah Feldman grew up in the strict Satmar Jewish community in Brooklyn, New York.

Speaking to ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 5 Live’s Emma Barnett, she said she decided to leave the community in the β€œthroes of biological euphoria” after the birth of her son when she was just 19 years old.

Deborah now lives in Germany with her son and has written an autobiography, β€˜Unorthodox’, which has now become a hit series on Netflix.
