New Gates funding to fight virus in poorer countries

There has been a backlash against President Trump's decision to suspend funding for the World Health Organization. The WHO's head, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, says he regrets the decision but would work with other partners to fill the $400m hole in its finances. The agency's second largest donor is the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which provided almost 10% of the funding last year.

Melinda Gates has been speaking to Newsday's David Whitty about that announcement by Mr Trump, but first about new additional funding the Gates foundation is announcing to support the global response to COVID-19 in low and middle income countries.
