Why coronavirus is not ‘the great leveller’

The burden of keeping the country functioning during the coronavirus crisis is already falling on many of the worse paid of our society.

Those on lower income may also be more prone to the underlying health conditions - heart disease and Diabetes- that makes you more vulnerable.

With the economic impact of the virus and the measures designed to slow its spread threatening a new depression, those divisions seem set to continue or deepen.

These widening social divisions may make the long term effects of the pandemic even more deadly.

What options do we have to prevent a new divide?
