Update: Are BP's climate ambitions plausible?

BP pledges to cut emissions to zero, but offers few details.

New BP boss Bernard Looney has said he wants the company to sharply cut net carbon emissions by 2050 or sooner. But with not much detail on offer, we look into if this can be achieved and does it even matter?
We also get the latest updates from the US markets. Plus, the Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba is due to present its quarterly results on Thursday. In the normal run of things, we might expect this to be another blizzard of eye-watering numbers - showing the company founded 21 years ago in a Hangzhou apartment still standing strong. But has the Coronavirus changed things - at least in the short term?
