Wet & Dry
A child of mixed-heritage describes her parents’ temperaments, mannerisms and habits
‘Wet & Dry’ is a short story and immersive soundscape written from the perspective of a young child of mixed heritage, describing her parents’ temperaments, mannerisms and habits.
Studying their characteristics and behaviours including the sounds they make in their environments, the food they eat and the way they interact in the world, the narrator categorises them as either a ‘Wet’ person or a ‘Dry’ person.
Whilst the world of this short story is colourful, childlike and witty, there are moments of fragility and compassion; along with a subtle questioning of identity and what it means to belong.
