Trump impeachment: The President's letter to Pelosi
President Trump has lashed out over his impending impeachment in a letter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, accusing her of declaring "open war on American democracy".
In the letter, he said "You have cheapened the importance of the very ugly word, impeachment!" and he declared that "more due process was afforded to those accused in the Salem Witch Trials".
Nancy Pelosi has described the letter as "really sick".
Leslie Vinjamuri, Head of the US and the Americas Programme at the Chatham House thinktank and Reader in International Relations at SOAS, University of London, gives her thoughts on the letter.
