Hong Kong activist hails 'remarkable' result

Hong Kong's chief executive, Carrie Lam, says her government will respect the results of the local elections and listen to the views of the public with an open mind. Pro-democracy candidates made unprecedented gains in Sunday's district council elections - winning almost 90 percent of the seats on the councils, which were previously dominated by establishment parties. The leading activist, Joshua Wong, told Newsday's Ben James the landslide was a remarkable achievement for the pro-democracy campaign and said they would now be able to transform the district council into a platform of democracy and freedom.
