Football for Australia's female Muslims
Assmaah Helal was born in Australia into an immigrant Egyptian family. She grew up loving football, and - although her own father was always very encouraging - she was conscious that she wasn't seeing other young women in hijabs playing on the field.
She has gone on to transform football for Muslim women globally, as she was part of the group that convinced FIFA, football’s governing body, to allow the hijab to be worn by Muslim women and girls on the football field as part of the official uniform.
